Sahara race in Namibia: Kathia is the women leaders in the race

212 competitors from forty countries started the Sahara race in Namibia on Sunday 1st May at 8.00.

 

We are proud to announce that Kathia is the women leaders in the race. 250Km ultramarathon in the desert of Namibia the first women to come in was Kathia.

Stage 1 was on Sunday 1st May, Distance: 37.3 kilometers with Elevation: 37 meters. The course was runnable with many competitors moving quickly throughout the day, the cool coastal breeze acting as a tail-wind as they made their way to the finish of the Diamond Trail. The morning started out with a misty fog covering up any sunshine and a strong coastal breeze blowing in from the southwest. By mid-day the fog had cleared and the sun made an appearance, helping ease the slight chill from the cool breeze. The first women to come in was Kathia Rached,39, from Lebanon with a time of 3:38:20, followed by Jax Mariash Koudele from the USA with a time of 3:50

 

Stage 2 of the Sahara Race (Namibia) 2016 saw 212 starters begin the day at 08:00 .Distance was 42 kilometers and Elevation was 74 meters. There have been no withdrawals from yesterday. The women’s leaders were again Kathia Rached in 5:22, Jax Mariash- Koudele of the United States in 5:27. The top women leaders remain the same with Kathia Rached with an overall time of 9:00:47.

 

Stage 3 “The Red Planet” will take competitors inland after traversing the coast for the last two days. This will be a welcome change with a slightly firmer ground underfoot but with higher temperatures.
